Our Ranch...It all started with a newspaper article...In 1992, we were putting in seven days, 60+ hours per week, with long commutes in his and hers veterinary practices. With two young children involved in various school activities and in multiple sports, we were more than ready to switch gears and to pursue another livelihood that would still enable us to utilize our animal knowledge but allow us more flexible time to spend with our family. An article in the local newspaper about the first Alpacafest in our area sent us on our way into discovering the world of alpacas. Three weeks later, we purchased our starter herd of three females. -

The OH Ranch Ltd. celebrates 125 years in 2008 as one of Alberta's oldest ranches founded in 1883. The ranch is dedicated to continually developing and improving its Angus base herd, utilizing the OH Range Tested® Program. OH Ranch uses Red and Black Angus and Red Max bulls from Soderglen Ranches. Currently the OH Ranch is involved in a joint venture project with Davis Rairdan International, implanting purebred Red Angus embryo’s into donor cows to market in South America. Our goal is to provide top quality, high performance stock and genetics suitable for any cattle operation while maintaining and preserving environmental sustainability and the unique history and traditions of ranching in Western Canada. -
The Ranch is uniquely positioned on the edge of the Black Hills. It converts from timbered canyon country to creek bottom meadows to grass prairie. A variety of wildlife lives, feeds and reproduces in the greatest abundance on the edge on one enviroment change to the next. For the past ten years the ranch has welcomed guests who love the ranch life. Guests (seldom more than six to eight people at a time) can join the ranch life like a part of the crew - in the house, in the corrals, on the pastures, while helping the neighbors, or in the local saloon in the next town.
